I have taken a few of the coments that I've received and pasted them below:

I'm glad somebody has started a website dedicated to this classic series. I think it's a great shame that it has never been repeated.

I recall watching it about the time I left school which was in 1981. I, like many of my contemporaries, went straight on the dole. My life at the time was very similar to the characters in the series.

It's amazing how familiar it was after 25 years. Not many TV programmes have stuck in my mind quite like that. Going Out certainly captured that period of English teenage life brilliantly. The filming and locations were better than I remembered. I can't think of anything equal to it in capturing the atmosphere of early "Thatcher's Britain".

Well done on the site! It's great to know I wasn't dreaming that I'd remembered this, no one else I know can recall it, let alone want to watch it! It's going to be a real trip down memory lane. I remember it being the best thing since sliced bread, I'm intrigued to find out if it still has that same impact 20 odd years on!

Ain't the internet great, why on earth would you have a site about this series, and why on earth would I be searching for this series on the net. That girl Cathy, looks like I wasn't the only one eh? Well thanks for satisfying my curiosity, I'll be off to my next bizarre search now!!!

The years melted away, it's just as I remembered, and just as good! Guess you had to be there at the time, but it's a true revelation. Thanks again, I really did think I'd never see it again.

I loved this show as a kid, I was about 17 when it was on and it totally
sumarised my life at the time...

The thing is that that series, like punk and post-punk, was so NOW and modern and current and cutting edge and it obviously had a deep, if not wide, impact on others.

I spotted Michele Winstanley in an advert / programme on
TV the other night and it reminded me of the series - which is what made
me search for it today. If I remember correctly, she was referred to by
one of the guys in Going Out as "jaws" - but it's pretty weird that I can
still remember that small detail from a 30-minute episode of a late-night
TV show after 25 years!!

I remember watching every episode and I taped it and used to watch it all the time as I was on Thatcher's Scrapheap too and I could relate to the stories as well. Though I am now 42 years old and I have never forgot some of the episodes sadly as I was growing up I erased over the episodes thinking that it would be shown again some day of course this never happened.

I just found your site about 'Going out' - what a blinding result! I too thought I was the only person who remembered this programme!

I had just left school when it came out and I had to furtively watch it after persuading the parents to go to bed (no video recorders in those days).

I remember sitting up in my bedroom at 14 years old (1981) watching this (so it must have been ITV? can't remember when Channel 4 came on) and have never met anyone else who has even heard of it. I have searched for info for quite a while and am pleased that you are making the effort

I came across your website after many months of searching for the TV programme
"Going Out." I've had difficulties trying to even find anything at all about
the programme. When I first typed "going out" television programme 1980
in google more than a year ago, nothing came up.

Oh My God! I am not mad - I also remember this show played late at night
in 81 as I recorded the theme tune on audio tape. ahah good times
